5 Reasons Bid Day Is Truly The Best Day

For people not in a sorority, the whole process of recruitment can seem overwhelming and somewhat ridiculous. Even for girls in sororities, it can feel that way. But when Bid Day comes, you immediately understand what it is all for.

A lot of times you'll see things that say "BID DAY, BEST DAY!" and you probably think "yeah, ok." but when it comes down to it, it really is the best day and here is why:

1. Time With Your Sisters

Emma Brown

Whether you are running home or you are already in the sorority, Bid Day gives you a chance to hang out with your sisters and get to know them more. Sure, you already know most, if not all, of them but something about Bid Day brings you closer to them.

If it's your first bid day, it can seem a bit overwhelming but when you realize that the people around you are going to be some of your best friends for the next four years that feeling of being overwhelmed is washed away.

2. You Can Be As Extra As You Want and No One Will Care

Emma Brown

Bid Day allows you to go all out for something you love and not have to worry about feeling judged or out of place because everyone else has also gone all out. Want to wear purple lipstick? Go for it! Want to wear those crazy shoes that you never thought you would get a chance to wear? Well here is your chance. Honestly, the more extra you are, the better it is.

3. RUSH CRUSH

Emma Brown

A rush crush is someone who you fell in love with during recruitment and honestly, nothing is better than having someone you love run home to the place you love. You become so excited to introduce them to your friends and the sisterhood that you love. It's even better when you the girl you fell in love with also fell in love with you.

4. Cute pictures, duh!

Emma Brown

Like I said, Bid Day is a day where you can be extra and no one cares and this leads to some great pictures for your memories and/or your social media. Seeing all the pictures and videos from Bid Day immediately brings back the flood of emotions and reminds you of how happy of a day it was. Whether it is fun, crazy pictures with your sisters or a group photo of your whole chapter they are pictures you will cherish for a lifetime.

5. IT'S FUN!!!

A huge dance party with all of your sisters in one place? Yes, please! Bid Day a recruitment, in general, stirs up quite a bit of emotions but coming together at the end to have fun with your sisters makes everything worth it. Nothing compares to the excitement and fun that Bid Day brings.

People may make fun of bid day or judge those in a sorority but the truth is, we wouldn't change it for the world. Each girl loves their chapter and the girls in it. Bid Day is truly the best day and that will never change.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
