If you haven't heard of Rupi Kaur, I highly recommend that you look her up right now.
Seriously, stop reading this article, open Google, and search her name.
This woman is going to be a voice of our generation... If she hasn't earned that title, already. In case you haven't read her work, Kaur has written two collections of poetry, "milk and honey" and "the sun and her flowers." Both of these works tackle the inevitable ups and downs of life in the most personal way.
I have heard about these books from many different people and seen the many ways they have touched their lives. Many people give this book as a gift to someone going through a rough time. They make great birthday presents for a woman entering a new stage of life. Plus, they are full of such great writing that a card is not even required upon gifting.
At only 25 years old, Rupi has published two successful books—books that have touched millions of women from all walks of life. Dealing with topics such as love, loss, breaking, healing, trauma, and femininity, her words are so relatable that you will feel as if you wrote them yourself, pulling from your own experiences. Poetry like this does not come along often, so we must enjoy it whenever it does!
I leave you with a piece of proof from "milk and honey" that Rupi Kaur is an author who will touch your soul:
"i have
what i have
and i am happy
i've lost
what i've lost
and i am still happy"
