Listen.

The past couple of years have been rough for all of us.

The world has been declining since 2012 when the Mayans predicted the world would meet its end, which I suppose is appropriate.

It's been hard, but we've made it this far, haven't we? It really helps to have something to keep us going in these times. We need inspiration that will show us the light at the end of the tunnel. We all need a hero.

You could make a case for many people... Dwane Johnson, Mindy Kaling, and Oprah come to mind...but I feel like there's one person that truly deserves to be our savior, and that is Rowan Blanchard.

Rowan is an ideal candidate for many reasons, but here are just a few:

1. She's sixteen years old and already a fashion icon.

Rowan's a strong believer in fashion as a form of art and it really shows in the way she exudes her personality through her clothing.

2. Rowan and Yara Shahidi are the definition of BFF goals.

They were on the cover of "Teen Vogue" together AND they went to prom together?? Amazing.

3. Her essay on intersectional feminism is so beautiful.

You can read it here.

4. She shadowed director Ava DuVernay on set.

She's already learning to direct after following Ava on the set of "A Wrinkle in Time".

5. She wrote a book and it is ART.

"Still Here" is a diary, poetry book, and little art gallery all in one. It's written mainly by Rowan and features work from other contributors as well, like Rupi Kaur and Gia Coppola.

6. She's just all-around great.

Her Instagram feed is lovely and she does amazing work. You can catch her on "The Goldbergs" and in Ava DuVernay's "A Wrinkle in Time," out now.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
