Valentine's Day: a day of either expectancy or anticipation. For some, this is a day of roses and for others, this is a day of thorns.
To all you single ladies,
You are beautiful. You are loved. Eat chocolate. Go do it. Go march into that store and buy yourself some dang chocolate. You deserve it! Spend time with your gal friends. Watch a movie. Enjoy each other’s company. But to all you single ladies -- don’t cry. Don’t cry over that boy that just broke your heart. Maybe you broke his. Don’t do it, don’t cry. Don’t cry simply because no boy should ever define your happiness.
Ladies, let Jesus do that. Let Him take your heart and mend it. Let Him show you that He is using your brokenness and loneliness as a time to grow. Let Him show you that He is building you to be a woman of diligence and respect.
Just because you are single on Valentine’s day doesn’t mean you are doing life alone.
Ladies, that boy should never be the first thing you are seeking. Seek the one who has never left. Let your heart fall in love with a God that breaks no promises. Let your heart fall in love with the one who is the perfect example of love.
Fall in love with His kindness, grace and forgiveness. Because, wow… He’s never given up. Fall in love with His miracles and the way He can rapidly change our hearts to learn that:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” (1 Corinthians 13:4-7)
Because then, then we can fall in love with His people. We can find love among ourselves and we can whole heartily experience that selfless, patient love.
To all you ladies in a relationship,
Learn from the way that Jesus loved.
“We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:19)
Ladies, don’t stop seeking the Lord. Pursue His heart. Seek the truth. Remember all that He has done. Make time for Him! He has been in love with you before you even knew what love was. He has been in love with you before you even knew how to love.
Now, this is hard, but this cannot be more important, so hear me out. Don’t let that boy that has made room in your heart ever replace your love for Jesus. Don’t let him. Don’t you realize that Jesus’ love is eternal? Don’t realize that even if you are stubborn and moody, the Lord won’t look at you any differently?
Before you were in a relationship, you were a daughter.
Jesus is the rose who was crowned with thorns. Daughter, remember this always.
