Why Your Roommates Are The Only Thing You Need This Holiday Season

They are the only ones who won't judge you eating a pound of Christmas cookies-- Since they are going to be eating them with you.

Why Your Roommates Are The Only Thing You Need This Holiday Season

So maybe this holiday season you can't stay home long to see your family because you have to work all of break. Or maybe you're single and have to deal with all of the annoyingly adorable Instagrams of couples during the holidays.

Whatever it may be, never forget that your roommates are the perfect source for all of your holiday cheer. Honestly, what would you ever do without them?

It's not hard to see the reasons why they are the only thing you could ever need this holiday season.

1. Cuddle sessions during 25 days of Christmas

ABC Family has a different Christmas movie on every night and you plan your schedules around being able to watch the best ones together. Sides might be chosen over personal favorites and war may be upon you if someone suggests that "Polar Express" is better than "A Year Without A Santa Claus". Then five minutes later you're going to laugh together and order a pizza; it's just what you do.

2. Holiday Shopping

You and your roommates get seduced into Target any time of the year. But NOTHING compares to the temptation that is Target during the holidays. The sweaters, the candles and the decorations are as sexually appealing to you as Justin Bieber (post-comeback). You practically have to make sure you take the trip together to stop each other from buying too much.

"There's no way you need reindeer antlers just because they blink and jingle. But, I NEED this $15 candle that smells like gingerbread cookies and my dreams."

3. Decorating Together

The best part about having your own place is that you can finally decorate how you want. You and your roommates go all out decorating together and have a blast doing it. Spending the time to do this makes it feel more like home and your roommates more like family.

Except there will be no Christmas lights hung up outside. You can spend money on a tree, stockings, garland and an Elf on the Shelf, but there is no way you can afford a higher electric bill.

4. Gift Exchanges

You guys tell each other everything, really how long will it be before everyone knows who their Secret Santa is? Probably 24 hours, max. Shopping for your roommates is one of the best things ever, because you can really just shop for yourself.

"Hey I hope you love this sweater, I thought it would look really nice on us,-- I mean you!"

5. Christmas Music

Sometimes when roommate vent sesh is in full force, all you ever really need to get cheered up is some music. Nothing makes me cackle more than watching my roommate get down to "Santa Baby". At least your roommates will always be there to sing along to "Under the Mistletoe" to help you forget that you're single for the holidays. And at that point you realize that they are all you could ever need and you are blessed to call them your best friends.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
