Like Cristina and Meredith, my roommate and I were complete strangers before meeting. We weren’t from the same town or even state. Our majors aren’t the same and as far as interests go we didn’t share an abundant amount. I had never heard of her hometown and she had never heard of mine, but from a distance we had planned to move to the same school and attend college.

I had already decided there was no way I could have a random roommate, so I signed up for an app that would lead me to meet new people. My roommate and I met on that app and immediately clicked. Instantly, we didn’t become best friends or sisters…we became each other’s person.

Although we had just met and we were three hours apart from each other, she instantly became my go to. She picked me up from any situation that had gotten me down and has never failed to get me back on my feet.

When you have a roommate like mine, that’s how you know you’ve met the Yang to your Grey. I am so lucky to have someone who is always honest with me. I don’t even have to ask for honesty or loyalty because with her I know I have an honest person. She gives the best advice as if she has lived a hundred years more than me.

After moving in together, we thought we needed to cut to the chase and learn every little thing about each other. We stayed up until morning, noticing it was five am, talking about everything in the world. What would I do without my Cristina? Who would I contemplate the universe with and cry about the simplest things with, that to us are the biggest?

When you find your very own Cristina Yang, you’ll know she can not be replaced. She’ll steal your favorite pair of house shoes, you’ll borrow everything of each others, and you’ll always admit you two look better together. You’ll know you’ve found your person when you fight with each other but can’t stay upset because you know you’re going to need her to be there right by your side before the week is over.

The love you have for your person is a love like no other. You can go all day without speaking but still always know how the other feels. Even by saying only one word, you know if they are stressed or having the greatest day. If you’re like us, you tell each other you love them multiple times a day and to be careful even if they’re just going to the bathroom down the hall.

You care about your person like you care about your favorite stuffed animal you refuse to wash. When the day is done and it’s time to relieve some stress, it’s so nice to have a person to eat Subway and Cheerios with while obsessing over your favorite show.

No doubt, my Meredith self couldn’t do life alone without my person. Thankfully, I have someone to keep me in line when my indecisiveness takes over even if it’s trying to decide if I really want Starbucks or not. The day we met, I knew we would be a dynamic duo…but we have truly become a huge part in each other’s lives.

You’re my person, Roomie. You will always be my person no matter how hangry we get or how many stressful days we have. Despite our tiny arguments that spark every now and then or the fact that your boyfriend may think he loves you more than me, you’ll always be the Yang to my Grey..and no one or nothing can come between us.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
