Becoming best friends with your roommate who was a stranger at first is probably an amazing part of many people’s freshman years in college. However, choosing your friends as roommates and becoming even closer with them is a different experience entirely.
1. You start to say the same things.
At this point, you've basically morphed into the same person.
2. You can communicate through solely eye contact.
Who needs words when you can just exchange glances and start laughing?
3. You end up texting in your group chat… even when you’re all in the same room.
You're all in bed laughing at the texts you're sending to each other instead of speaking.
4. Other people know you’re a package deal.
If one of you is invited somewhere, the invitation is automatically extended to the others.
5. When one person flakes, so do the others.
If one person decides to nap instead of going out that night, that's all the convincing you need to throw on sweatpants and stay in.
6. You always get a second and third opinion on your outfit.
"Are you guys wearing a dress or jeans and a cute top?" No group chat exists without this phrase.
7. You wake up to each other’s alarms. All 30 of them.
And even after all this, you might still wake up late.
8. You get offended if they hang out without you.
You reply to each one of their snap stories with "tfti" even though you were in class when they went out to eat.
9. You cook gourmet meals together (or order in.)
Either you feast at night, or give up altogether and just order Mexican or Indian food. Why cook when someone else can do that for you?
10. You motivate each other to finish assignments… and simultaneously procrastinate.
You know each other's deadlines and yet still decide a movie night is a good idea when you have essays due the next day.
11. You become best friends.
Many people say you shouldn’t room with your friends because of the conflicts that may arise, but it’s worth a gamble. More often than not, chances are that you’ll have an even stronger friendship at the end of your time as roommates together.
