This upcoming weekend will be a memorable one for the city of Miami.
The largest hip-hop music festival is set to take place at Miami Garden's Hard Rock Stadium from May 11th to May 13th. Many of the hottest rappers in the game, including Future, J.Cole and Travis Scott are set to hit the stage over the three days. This may justify the hefty general admission price of $300. With 40,000 plus people in attendance each day, the festival continues to create a big name for itself.
Since its debut about 4 years ago, Rolling Loud has expanded worldwide to places such as New York, London, Los Angeles and Japan. Rolling Loud owner and co-founder Matt Zingler, who was formerly a biological science major was previously a nightclub promoter. His career took off as a festival owner when he established his touring company dope entertainment in 2010. He coined the idea for Rolling Loud at an after party for Rick Ross in a Tallahassee nightclub. Although the event was not profitable he realized a large part of the hip-hop market was untapped.
Rolling Loud launched in February 2015 by Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif. Like anything else, they endured struggles some of which included technical difficulties with scanners, heavy rain causing hours of delay and the event being shut down by the fire department. Financially, it was a loss however the event made a good name for itself to spark future interest.
Now, just a few years later Rolling Loud grew in occupancy and turns a bigger profit each and every year. "It's about scaling, price elasticity and supply and demand. There's a reason we're growing at the rate we are," said Zingler. He added that another key ingredient to his success was hospitality;not just to the artists but to managers and booking agents as well.
After receiving great success just a few months back with Rolling Loud in San Bernardino, California, they strike again with the annual Miami edition just a few months later. This Rolling Loud is expected to be the biggest one yet. The lineup is near completion as everyone still awaits the final names to be added. Special guests are also expected to show up each day which adds to the excitement. All in all, the show is about ready to get on the roll.
