Every college campus has it's own culture and idiosyncrasies that make it unique! Roger Williams University is no different. Here are a few things that all Roger Williams students know to be true about our campus.
1. The GHH doors.
Every student has encountered the doors to GHH. If you missed going to the gym that day, simply try to open a door to GHH. It's a workout in itself. They are notoriously heavy and irritating to pull open. I can't the times I've nearly dislocated my arm trying to open those doors!
2. We have the best location.
Our campus is situated right on the water. We wake up to beautiful sunrises gleaming on the water and end our days with breathtaking sunsets. It's hard to not stop and take int the beauty of the campus. Several dorm rooms have a view of the water. Being on the water also means kayaking and paddle boarding are fun ways to unwind after class. It's a location that's hard to beat!
3. Winter is coming.
Our winters are bitter cold and unforgiving. If there's not ice somewhere, it's not normal. We have fight through strong, icy winds to get to class and layers are a must. Winter consists of everyone checking their emails religiously to check if classes are canceled. But, with great snow comes great fun. Snowball fights and sledding down hills on campus are tons of fun.
4. The fire alarms are merciless.
You're not a true Roger Williams student until you've been woken up by the fire alarm after 12 am. Bonus points if you are in the shower, or if it's the middle of winter. The fire alarms are overly sensitive, causing everyone to make their popcorn in fear of setting them off.
5. Late Night Breakfast is a holiday in itself.
Every semester, when finals begin, our school hosts a late night breakfast. Has anyone ever noticed that breakfast is so much better when it's being served to you by the president of the school?
