My music taste has gone through a thousand "eras," just like any average teen. My parents raised me on music from the greatest rock legends this world has ever known. My father used to sing "Blackbird" by the Beatles to me every evening before bed. When I was around 7 or 8 years of age, I turned to pop music until I was about 11 or 12. After my bubblegum pop stage, I came back to my rock roots. Altering itself from alternative to heavy metal to indie, my music taste eventually came back to pure classic rock. Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd and the Rolling Stones are just a few of the many bands I blast in my headphones. Not only do they make some of the best music, in my opinion at least, but they have taught me more about peace and love than any other music I've ever heard.
John Lennon taught me to spread peace. Jerry Garcia told me to stay happy and to love those around me. Pink Floyd showed me life is a short, warm moment not to be taken advantage of, because death is a long, cold rest.
Since I was young, I have always been told to love everybody I ever come across. I have always been told to give peace to the ones who don't have it and to do my best in coming closer friends with the earth. World peace is such an important thing that needs to be remembered, no matter how ugly the world can and will be to us and them.
During an interview in the December of 1980, John Lennon was asked about the reasoning and meaning behind "Imagine." He responded with, "If you can imagine a world at peace, with no denominations of religion—not without religion but without this my God-is-bigger-than-your-God thing—then it can be true."
If we can imagine an entire world at peace, we can have an entire world at peace.
All of these people have taught us something, and we should definitely start paying attention to that. We are human beings hurting other human beings. All we are is full of death and destruction. Nobody should ever have to walk outside afraid of being attacked, no matter their race, gender or sexuality. Never forget to tell the ones you love how much they mean to you. This life is mean and it will take everything you love before you can give it a second glance. Spread peace, love and serenity. Love all. Imagine world peace.
