Whether you been watching Riverdale from the very beginning and tuning in live every Thursday night while live tweeting the cast (like I was), or you started a little late and caught up on DVR, or you're one of those bins watchers who plans on catching up on Netflix starting May 19th: it is undeniable that Riverdale is an awesome hit show. The CW aired Riverdale from January 26th to May 11th. Fans have had plenty of opportunities to react to the show on several social media platforms. Ships have form from very early on including my personal favorite - Bughead (Betty and Jughead). The fan reactions are reportedly having a major impact on the shaping of season two.
One item that has confused fans is that the writers had tweeted that more Barchie (Betty and Archie) will be shown in the finale and season two. If the writers are truly playing to the fans then they should not make this show about a love triangle. The cast, specifically Camila Mendes, teases that the show will get darker and deeper. Additionally, the cast has said on multiple interviews that we will continue to get more character depth and background, including Josie's which seemed to abruptly stop in episode 6: "Chapter Six: Faster, Pussycats! Kill! Kill!"
So yes, ladies and gentlemen season two is confirmed and seems to be airing in the Spring of 2018. But until then if you have not watched season one, it is a must see with your free time this summer. Every episode is amazing and pulls you in. The plot is steady, keeping you interested and invested. The characters (and the actors playing them) do a phenomenal job. Admittedly I started watching the show for Cole Sprouse, but I quickly grew to love the whole cast and their Twitter accounts. The whole show is so masterfully crafted. From the episode titles, which are names of books/movies, to the use of colors -- everything seems to be thought out so well.
You WILL have to mentally prepare your body for episodes 12 and 13, as they are a roller coaster. As I told my friend via text the "season finale of Riverdale will have you so shook and had most people shocked and it was just amazing." The writers do a fantastic job to try to leave the story open ended in a way that doesn't involve Jason, which I personally really liked. Everything else I have to say about the show is riddled with spoilers but before season two airs I will be doing a follow up on all things Riverdale including my questions and theories.
Overall whether you know about the comic books or not, you should drop what you are doing right now to go watch Riverdale!
