Dreaming is a part of life.

Throughout life, we strive for greatness and success in whatever we choose to do. We may aspire to be a journalist, doctor, news reporter, a world renowned scientist, or even a professional athlete. There are so many individuals out there who want a legacy, to be remembered, and who have an overwhelming desire to change the world. It's one thing to want, but it's another thing to do. It takes a certain kind of person to have the determination, ambition, and dedication to make all of their dreams come true. It's not about making it happen overnight, but having those dreams that one day could become a reality.

Chasing your dreams is part of what makes life worth living. You could be five years old and want to be a fireman or ten and want to be a superstar athlete. As we grow up our dreams change along with what we care most about. They may change depending on changes that are occurring in our lives. We may not know what we want until we take a minute and think about our passions, goals, and what we ultimately want to do with our lives. No one is saying that it's mandatory for anyone to keep the same dream, and to stick with it.

At one point in our lives, we all want to be able to say that we accomplished the goals we set for ourselves or the dreams that we've had for so many years. The important thing to remember though is that it's okay not to accomplish everything on the first try. There are going to be multiple setbacks in life that are going to only make it harder for us to succeed. These setbacks aren't telling you that you're not good enough or that you're going to fail every time; they're a test of your determination and of what really matters to oneself.

It's okay not to be the best at everything. Dreams and goals can change as our lives go on. All of our dreams vary in degree level. For instance, one may strive to be the scientist that finally cures cancer, win a world title in their athletic career or one's dream may be as simple as getting into a certain college or getting that 'A' in their most difficult class. It's not about whether or not we have dreams as big as the universe, but rather that we have dreams at all. It's important that we aspire and believe that we can do anything, but also to realize what it's going to take to make all of our dreams come true. It's not about whether or not you succeed the first time, but that you continue to push yourself until you get there. Some of our dreams and goals may be harder than others and that's okay. We're not super humans. If we were, life would be pretty boring.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
