The Seattle Sounders have just reached the 2016 MLS Cup. If this was five months ago, I never thought this sentence would be possible to write. The Seattle Sounders in the end of June were a dismal 5-8-1 with making their eighth consecutive playoffs seeming like a far off and dying chance. However, after a shake-up of coaches as signing a new designated player, the Sounders turned their season around to finish 14-14-6 and lock up 4th place in the MLS Cup Knockout round.

The Sounders continued with their Cinderella story with a win in the knockout round at home against Sporting Kansas City in a tight 1-0 win. However, the quarter-final round proved to be a challenge even before it started at the Sounders have never passed that point in their eight years in MLS and even worse they were set up to play against one of their longtime rivals the FC Dallas, who in the previous year knocked them out of the playoffs and was the best team in the league this year. The Sounders again pulled off an upset and made it the semi-final round by beating FC Dallas and winning 4-2 on aggregate.

However, the biggest challenge the Sounders had to face was now a reality. For the semi-final round they had to face the Colorado Rapids who were the second best team in the league this year. Although the Sounds had momentum going with them and against the Rapids who barely made it our of their quarter-final round, having their match result to penalty kicks. The Sounders took control of the first match early going up 1-0 in the 20th minute and finished the first game leading 2-1 going into the final match-up. Today this match-up was completed as the Sounders won again 1-0 to eliminate the second best team in the league and advance to the MLS Cup final.

Regardless of the result of the final, it will be a season to remember for all Sounders fans and fans of MLS alike. Now as we enter the final and wait to hear if the Sounders may get the chance to host the final, I cannot help but smile. This was a team that had all but given up by mid-season but came together as a unit to work for each other and have a goal in mind. It is this goal that I believe will carry the Sounders to claim their first MLS Cup. And with that all that is left to say is LET'S GO SOUNDERS!!!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
