Beep, beep: guess what time it is. It may be hump day but that is for another time. It's time to wake up for class, time for responsibilities to start all over again, time for your sleepyhead dreams to end. It maybe 6:30 a.m or 9:20 a.m, but when you hear the sound of your alarm from your phone it's all the same.
The noise you set for your alarm becomes one of the most hated noises you will ever hear. When you hear someone else's phone go off with that same sound, a little part of you dies inside.
Physically getting up is probably the worst part of the whole process. Your bed is so comfy, and you were up till one in the morning writing a paper and getting up is the last thing you want to do. Having to sit up and climb down from your bed makes you just want to cry and hide under the covers.
The overwhelming hunger pains attack you right after getting up; all you want is some yummy breakfast. The undying need to go to the bathroom after drinking half of the Nile river hits you instantly, or is even the reason you wake up early.
You know that the only reason you are getting up so early is for class, and listening to your professor bore on about something that does not interest you at 8:30 in morning. The only thing motivating you is the clicker question that you know you will have or the Grande ice coffee and croissant at Starbucks you are going to get on the way to class.
Throughout your daily routine of getting ready, there is a voice in the back of your head begging and tempting you to just go back to bed. We both know that once or twice you have given into to the voice and just said forget it.
Waking up randomly before your alarm can be a curse and a blessing. If you wake up a few hours early and see how much time you have left is amazing. On the other hand waking up just a few minutes before your alarm makes you want to cry because you are not 100 percent awake but you cannot go back to sleep.
Enjoy your week of no alarms, spring breakers!
