"When I hear people say there isn't enough time in the day to do everything they need to do, it gets me hot, and not in a good way," Entrepreneur Daymond John, said in his book, "Rise and Grind."
This book consists of stories of various well-known people such as actress, designer, and mother, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, legendary guitarist, and spirit guide, Carlos Santana, and of course, John's story as well.
Behind every individual, there is a story that needs to be told.
Each person explained their story on why they chose to “rise and grind" — in other words, their story as to how they got to be in the position they are today.
In our minds, we think the days slip away from us quicker than we can say guacamole. Sometimes, that can be true but are you doing everything you can to fulfill your day before the day ends?
If we do not set goals or put our phones away from our sight, are we really focusing the task at hand before the sun sets?
I've always procrastinated, but this past couple of weeks, I have been trying to focus more and have felt satisfied with my day.
I love setting goals in my planner because if I can visualize what is I need to do, then I'm more motivated to finish it so I can check it off and onto the next.
Since I set my goals on a daily basis, my friends or family members tell me they don't have time to finish their homework or have time to relax and exercise. The problem was, none of them actually made the time. It only takes five minutes to write down what's needed to be done whether it is on your phone or on a notepad.
Of course, you aren't expected to finish every single task before the day ends.
On a piece of paper or on your phone, write all of the tasks you would like to get done for the week. If you're writing, write it with a colorful pen or whatever feels comfortable for you and perhaps you would like to doodle on the side! Make it cute and attractive to you so you're more likely to go back to it.
Once you've written all of your tasks, make a checkbox next to each of them. Try to finish at least two or three tasks for the day and once you've finished it, color in the box! You will feel more satisfied knowing you finished at least something for the day.
Don't forget to schedule in some alone time too! Repeat these steps until you've reached the end of the week. Look at your progress so far and see how far you've come! Don't stop now!
Here's a sneak peek into my new morning ritual. At 5:15 a.m, I wake up but then take a 15-minute nap. I use the app Tide to focus and use rain sounds for 15 minutes to calm myself and exercise/stretch in bed. By 5:45 a.m, I wake up, get ready, and immediately read my textbook or listen to a podcast. Then by a certain time, depending on the day, I go to school.
Now, I look forward to waking up early because it gives me a sense of joy when I am productive.
We have the same amount of hours as your favorite singer and as a billionaire. If they can fit the time in their busy schedule to work on their careers and relax, then so can you.
