Recently, turning books into movies, and then splitting the last movie in half, has become a popular Hollywood trend. Part one leaves fans longing for the rest of the story from the next installment.

On November 19, 2010, the first ever “part one” movie was released. It was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 1. Soon after, the first ever “part two” movie was released on July 15, 2011. It was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows- Part 2.

These movies were originally one book. The book itself is very long and so the best way to fit as much as possible into the movie was to make two films. The Harry Potter series were so loved because of how J.K. Rowling had created such a magnificent world.

Once the movies had come around, everyone was excited. The first six movies had been a hit and then there was an announcement that the last movie, in this series, was going to be split in half. Many people had no idea what that would do and whether or not the movies would be as good. But in the end the movies were amazing and left many fans satisfied. These movies also brought in new fans who wanted to read the books.

After this new way of keeping a franchise alive, many more movies followed, doing this with their last movie. In the Twilight saga, Breaking Dawn, was also split soon after the Harry Potter movies were over. The end of part one definitely left viewers wanting more. The cliffhanger that is present in all of the split stories, causes fans to go read the books in order to find out what happens next. For those who don’t want to read on, but instead wait for the next installment, may end up waiting an entire year to get the rest of the story.

The newest release of The Hunger Games series is The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1. The movie series started with the first installment called The Hunger Games which was released March 23, 2012. The movie made $691,247,768 while the movie was in theaters. Catching Fire, the second movie in the series, was released a year later, bringing more fans into this series. That movie made $864.9 million altogether. Both of these movies did so well that Lionsgate decided to finish the last book in two installments.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1 was released on November 21, 2014 and was complete smash hit. Fans from all over went to the first showings. Fans have been anticipating this movie since November of last year, paying $560.5 million to see it, and it has only been out about a month. This franchise will continue to grow from now until all the movies are done.

This new way to keep stories alive have become increasingly popular and the enjoyment of these films are apparent once the movies hit theaters.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
