Every year we always loose actresses, actors, singers, or celebrities who we appreciated on a deep level. Someone we connected with and enjoyed for years. For some reason this year it seems we lost more than we are use to. I am not one who likes to treat celebrities like they are Gods and Goddesses but I do know that the work and art they create can not only enhance our lives but change them. Whether it was a song, movie, book, or simply a star's personality we have all been touched by them in one way or another and they will be missed.

1. David Bowie.

January 10, 2016. Dying only a few days after his last album was released Bowie was and always will be an icon. Constantly reinventing his sound and persona he changed music forever.

2. Alan Rickman.

January 14, 2016. Possibly best known for his role as Professor Snape in the Harry Potterseries this amazing English actor played a variety of roles on stage and off.

3. Glenn Frey.

January 18, 2016. Iconic singer and songwriter who was the guitarist in the band Eagles, known for their song "Hotel California." He was also rightfully inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

4. Maurice White.

February 4, 2016. Founder and vocalist of the phenomenal band Earth, Wind, and Fire White was a huge influencer on music and people everywhere.

5. Denise Matthews (Vanity).

February 15, 2016. Better known as Vanity she was a gorgeous and talented Canadian singer, songwriter, dancer and model.

6. Umberto Eco.

February 19, 2016. A prominent Italian write and philosopher who is best known for his book The Name of the Rose.

7. Harper Lee.

February 19, 2016. Author of one of the most beloved works of fiction ever written, To Kill a Mockingbird, which was actually her first ever novel.

8. Tony Dyson.

March 4, 2016. Special effects supervisor and robotics expert who built the iconic R2-D2 for Star Wars.

9. Nancy Reagan.

March 6, 2016. Not only did she serve as the First Lady of the United States during Ronald Reagan's presidency she was also an American actress mostly during the 50s.

10. Frank Sinatra Jr.

March 16, 2016. World renowned singer, songwriter, and conductor who carried on the musical legacy of his father Frank Sinatra.

11. Phife Dawg.

March 22, 2016. Founding member of the influential hip-hop group A Tribe Called Quest as well as a clever and creative rapper who challenged artists all over.

12. Gary Shandling.

March 24, 2016. American stand-up comedian, actor, writer, and producer who is best known for his work in It's Gary Shandling and The Larry Sanders Show both from the late 90s.

13. Patty Duke.

March 29, 2016. Oscar-winning actress and star of her own TV show, she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at only the age of 16.

14. Merle Haggard.

April 6, 2016. Legendary country singer who created his own revolutionary sound.

15. Doris Roberts.

April 17, 2016. Extremely successful actress, author, and philanthropist whose career spanned across 6 decades of television. She is best known for her role as the mother on Everybody Loves Raymond.

16. Chyna.

April 20, 2016. WWE legend and glamour model, she was given the title the "Ninth Wonder of the World."

17. Prince.

April 21, 2016. Remarkable icon for an entire generation not only because of the music he made but also because of his lifestyle. He disregarded every convention and never allowed himself to be put in a box.

18. Afeni Shakur.

May 2, 2016. Mother of Tupac Shakur Afeni was an American political activist, Black Panther, and music businesswomen.

19. Morley Safer.

May 19, 2016. CBS newsman who forever changed reporting and went on to become the iconic 60 Minutes correspondent.

20. Muhammad Ali.

June 3, 2016. One of the greatest sporting figures of the 20th century and outspoken individual who talked on issues of race, religion, and politics.

21. Kimbo Slice.

June 6, 2016. Mixed martial artist, boxer and small time actor.

22. Anton Yelchin.

June 19, 2016. Film and television actor, known for playing Pavel Chekov in the Star Trek reboot series.

23. Garry Marshall.

July 19, 2016. Creator of some of the most iconic sitcoms of the 70s including Happy Days, The Odd Couple, Laverne and Shirley and Mork and Mindy. He later directed hit movies like Pretty Woman and ThePrincess Diaries.

24. Kenny Baker.

August 13, 2016. English actor and musician who played the iconic character of R2-D2 in the Star Wars series.

25. Gene Wilder.

August 29, 2016. Film and theater comic actor, screenwriter, film director, author, and of course the original Willy Wonka.

26. Juan Gabriel.

August 28, 2016. Iconic Mexican singer and Mexico's bestselling artist of all time.

27. Shawty Lo.

September 21, 2016. Atlanta hip-hop artist and member of the group D4L, best known for their song "Laffy Taffy."

September 25, 2016. Innovative songwriter and producer who is behind hits by Whitney Houston and Evelyn King.

October 12, 2016. American actor who is best known for his role as Tommy Strawn on the hit sitcom Martin and his role as Mel Parker in The Parkers.

October 23, 2016. English singer, songwriter, and television personality. He also founded the pop band Dead or Alive in 1980.

31. Leonard Cohen.

November 7, 2016. Influential Canadian singer, songwriter, musician, poet, novelist, and painter whose work spanned nearly 50 years.

November 14, 2016. American Peabody Award-winning journalist, television newscaster, and author.

November 18, 2016. Powerful soul and funk singer who lead the band Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings.

34. Florence Henderson.

November 24, 2016. Actress and singer whose career spanned nearly 6 decades. Best known for her role as Carol Brady in the sitcom The Brady Brunch.

December 6, 2016. British character actor known for many supporting roles as well as many roles on stage.
