Being able to spend the summer in Rhode Island is truly an experience. Getting to be in the Ocean State for the summer time is unlike anything else in the world. There are certain things that make summers in Rhody so special. Here is a list of things that should definitely be on your to do list if you can make it to the smallest state this summer:

1. Theatre-By-the-Sea, Matunuck

This summer, Theatre-By-the-Sea will entertain audiences once again with a lineup sure to please including: "Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story," "The Wizard of Oz," "West Side Story" and "Sister Act." With top notch talent, extravagant cabaret performances, and a restaurant right next door, this should definitely be one of the top spots on your list.

2. Coast Guard House, Narragansett

A view like no other. The Coast Guard House is not only home to one of the best views in the state, but also some great food. You can enjoy the view and eat on the outside deck!

3. Colvitto's Pizza and Bakery, Narragansett

If you're looking for something a little cheaper, you should stop by Colvitto's. With quick and delicious food, it is the perfect place to hit up on your way to the beach! They have the best pizza strips (a Rhode Island thing) I have ever had!

4. Jim's Dock, Wakefield

Another restaurant with a spectacular view! If you can't get into the Matunuck Oyster Bar, head across the street to Jim's Dock! While you're waiting for your table, you can sit outside by the boats and enjoy the beauty that is the ocean state.

5. Ocean Drive, Newport

A Rhode Island summer would be incomplete without a ride down beautiful Ocean Drive. Driving along the ocean basically leaves you speechless. It is a must.

6. Water Wizz, Westerly

If you're in the mood for a little bit of fun, head on down to Water Wizz! With several water slides, you are sure to have a great time away from the hot sand and busy beaches!

7. Allie's Donuts, North Kingstown

If you haven't had Allie's Donuts, then you are seriously missing out. Hands down, best donuts I have ever had. And, they are super cheap! But heads up, it's cash only!

8. Adventureland, Narragansett

Adventureland has a little bit of everything. Whoever you have got along with you, the bumper boats, mini golf, carousel, and several other attractions are sure to bring a smile on your face!

9. Iggy's, Warwick/Narragansett

A Rhode Island summer tradition. With 2 locations, there is no excuse. You need to get to Iggy's this summer.

10. Crazy Burger, Narragansett

Now this is just a fun place to eat. With a unique menu and cool juice bar, Crazy Burger is the perfect summer spot if you're looking for something different and delicious.

11. Umbrella Factory, Charlestown

When you are tired of shopping and seeing all of the same things, enter Umbrella Factory. With several little shops and stands tucked away in Charlestown, it is one of our best kept secrets.

12. Vanilla Bean, Matunuck

Summer means ice cream and nothing says ice cream like the Vanilla Bean. Growing up with this ice cream shop makes me a little biased, but the VB has the best ice cream.

13. Drive-In Movies, Westerly

Kicking it old school at the drive-in. On one of those unforgettable summer nights, take a trip to enjoy watching Grease and "Summer Nights" or one of the other movies being played this summer. .

14. Block Island Ferry

"Sail away on the Block Island Ferry!" If you want to get away for a day trip, Block Island is the perfect place! Take an early ferry, spend the day, and come back the same night. That will leave you plenty of time to explore the island!

15. Matunuck Surf Shop

If you're looking for something to remember your awesome summer by or maybe grab a board to catch some waves, the Matunuck Surf Shop is the place to go. They have a wide range of everything you could want from a surf shop and it's conveniently located right next to the Matunuck beaches.

16. Pawtucket Red Sox

Nothing says summer like a little bit of baseball. Instead of spending a fortune on Fenway and trying to get to Boston, get some cheap seats in Pawtucket and have the same amount of fun for half the price!

17. Newport Mansions

Although they will be filled with tourists, it is pretty spectacular that we have these amazing mansions right here in Newport. If you haven't had a tour of one yet, you should definitely try and make it over the bridge to Newport.

18. Del's

If you go anywhere in Rhode Island this summer, chances are you will see a Del's truck or stand. Don't ignore it. Stop at the sign of the lemon and get a refreshing Rhode Island summer treat. And whatever you do, please don't drink it with a straw/spoon.

If you are spending the summer in RI or are looking for some things to do, hopefully this list helped you out. Enjoy the Ocean State!

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
