Why did you give me work to do?

We just finished midterms and I am tired,

This work is so very undesired.

Lab report for one, reading for another,

I think I need to speak to their mothers.

Please, professors let me sleep,

Just thinking about this work makes me want to weep.

We could have been friends but you assigned me work to do

And now, I don't like you.

I tried to pretend the assignments didn't exist

But then, you emailed me with a "gentle reminder" and my hand balled up into a fist.

As I sit in bed dreaming of summery days of bliss

I'm always reminded of the work I resist.

So I'm begging you professors. From one sad student,

Stop assingning work over breaks, it would be such an improvement.
