A little piece of heaven has come to Soho with the opening of the Magnum ice cream shop. My whole life, I have been a huge fan of Magnum ice cream bars, and when I heard that they were opening a shop in Soho, I had to go. So, one weekend I dragged my roommates-- who were not excited about the concept (I'll never understand why)-- to Soho so we could experience this little ice cream dream together.
First of all, the store itself is absolutely beautiful. Shiny ice cream bars hang from the ceiling, quotes are perfectly placed on walls, and the floor is white and gold, which contrasts with the rich brown wall that meets your eye as you walk in. There is also a great work of art that says "NYC", along with the New York City skyline, elaborated in the magnum wooden popsicle sticks. They really take the ice cream theme seriously here, as the tables where you sit are also shaped like popsicle sticks.
Now onto the part where the real magic happens: the ice cream bar. Under a huge Magnum "M," sits a semi-circular table where you get to order your personalized ice cream bar. You first pick what ice cream flavor you want (chocolate/vanilla), then you pick what toppings you want on your bar. I chose cinnamon sugar, hazelnuts and white chocolate covered caramel. The ice cream bar is then dipped in your choice of chocolate (white, dark, or milk), the toppings are sprinkled on, and then it is drizzled with another chocolate of your choice.
Not only does the final product look absolutely beautiful, but it tastes amazing. Overall, I feel like this Magnum ice cream shop could be an enjoyable experience for anyone. The fact that you can customize your ice cream bar is already pretty unique. I would definitely re-visit to make a whole new ice cream bar, as I am sure it will be just as delicious. For all the sweet-tooths out there, the Magnum Ice Cream shop is a must!
