The amount of rain that one person can handle cannot be tested until you are standing for two hours in the rain in a mosh pit waiting for The Killers to take the stage.
Before the rain hit however, Governor's Ball had some great acts. "Catfish and the Bottlemen" came on the main GOVBALLNYC stage at 3 PM. While their music was awesome, just hearing them talk in their British accents was even better. For those of you unfamiliar, this British modern rock band has some great hits. For starters, check out "Kathleen" or "Soundcheck".
After "Catfish and the Bottleman: came "Misterwives". This New-York based band was beaming to be playing on such a large stage in their hometown, and their radiance hit the crowd. They did not disappoint with some of their great hits like "Hurricane" and a new unreleased song called "Machine".
One of the craziest sets of the day has to go to Mac Miller. While the stage gave him some technical issues, the fans in the crowd did not seem to care. It all lead to an amass of the crowd screaming "F*** Donald Trump", because as most of us know there is no love lost between the two celebrities.
The first wave of rain came ironically enough during "Waves" singer Miguel's set, but this didn't let his set be any less great. In fact, it may have even enhanced it. Fans that stuck around got to see him rip off his shirt and sing hits like "Adorn" and "How Many Drinks".
Every single act of the day was amazing, but nothing could top the headlining band. Many fans left because they couldn't handle the rain, but the large amount of people that stuck around got to enjoy a soaking wet thrill ride. Starting off with "Mr. Brightside", the entire mosh pit was electric with an energy that can only be harnessed by die-hard fans waiting in the rain and created a true bonding experience for all around. They incorporated a tribute to Interpol for helping them in their early years and entered a rendition of Elvis's "Can't Help Falling in Love With You". With no new material for The Killers to promote, the entire set was a sing along for all who came, with hits like "Spaceman" and Somebody Told Me". The ending topped it all of with fireworks at the end of "When You Were Young", making the wait in the pouring rain all worth it.
I got soul but I'm not a soldier.
