A Review Of Sea World’s Electric Ocean
Park Journey

My annual pass at SeaWorld is soon to expire, so I figured why not visit their Electric Ocean, a fun-filled festival that will rock your summer season. Last weekend, I had an amazing time with my family at the theme park, almost attending all the events. My expectations were greatly surpassed.

Electric Ocean might be way better than the Seven Seas Food Festival they had earlier during the spring season, which tasted like a cheap knockoff of EPCOT’s Food and Wine Festival. Electric Ocean is this family-friendly summer festival that has everything: food, music, shows, and fireworks. One day is enough to experience it all, but I would not mind experiencing it again. It’s like a buffet; you want to taste it again.

I first attended the Pop show at the Nautilus Theater, which featured bubble artist Fan Yang. I was blown away by all the bubbles. The introduction was a bit long, with science and history clips regarding the origins and art of bubble making. I could not help but yawn.

But I was soon awoken when Fan Yang entered the stage with his bubble making tools and bubble solution. He invited the audience to his world of bubbles, even gathering kids as volunteers on stage. One scene was quite disturbing in which he looked like he was vaping. But his intentions, pure, were to mesmerize the audience with how you can trap gas in a bubble and make it rise then pop like magic. After watching all those bubbles, I knew I just had to buy bubble solution and make bubbles on my own.

The Sea Lions Tonite SeaWorld’s Parody Show! at the Sea Lion and Otter Stadium was my favorite. They featured what it is like to go to Sea World through the eyes of Clyde and Seamore, the sea lions. The cast mimicked Pets Ahoy, Kraken, Dolphin Days, and One Ocean. The overall SNL-like feel made me laugh so hard I literally cried. The other people there who were first-timers at SeaWorld looked lost, because they really have to know those other shows at SeaWorld to truly appreciate the parody show.

The Club Sea Glow Dance Festival at Bay Side Stadium came to a slow start but kicked it off once the sun set. The performers, the choreography, the bioluminescent costumes, and the puppets tied it all together. It emanated an aquatic dance party vibe with all the performers dressed as jellyfish, sea turtle, sea dragon, corals, sea scorpion, and eel. The live DJ and the EDM music saved everyone from a tasteless party. There were noteworthy performances from the Giant Wheel with his hula-hoop, Amora Fire with her glow sticks, and Extreme B with his intense laser lights matrix show. They were all phenomenal.

Ultimately, the Ignite Fireworks Spectacular was a sight to see. At 10 o’clock p.m., all eyes were on the sky as the day came to an end with multicolored fireworks, blinding laser lights, and deafening music. I applaud SeaWorld for delivering such witty and exciting shows, and a festival that is sure to invite many more.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
