Review of Me Before You

Me Before You is a touching story about two characters who couldn’t have less in common, who meet by chance and miraculously fall in love. The main characters are Louisa Clark, her parents, her sister Katrina, Will Traynor and his mother. The story begins showing Louisa in desperate need of a new job when the café of her current job closes. She interviews to be a caregiver for Will Traynor who is a quadriplegic, the interview is done with his mother. As Louisa is working for them she finds out that Will Traynor wants to end his life, as he is not happy having to depend on everyone else for everything. His mother begs Louisa to try to convince Will that life is still worth living. Louisa takes Will on a series of adventures to try to change his outlook. I can relate to the character Louisa in the story, as I am currently dating someone who has depression. It is not easy seeing someone you love so miserable with their life, I can relate to the pain Louisa felt, and the love that she felt for Will despite everything. I also heard some of the things Will said to Louisa to be things that my boyfriend has said to me. I enjoyed the book overall, I was drawn in by the relationship between the characters and was constantly turning the page to figure out what they would do for each other next. I feel Louisa discovered a lot about herself and that is something anyone could relate to with growing up. I wouldn’t recommend it to someone who is looking for a fast-paced story or a thriller. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes romance or a good coming of age story. I know that some people dislike the book because it makes people in a wheelchair seem like they can’t do anything. But, I know from my gathering that Will is a unique character. He has his own reasons for doing what he wanted. It may have involved him being quadriplegic but I feel that certain things had to happen in the story for the way the characters are. If you haven’t yet, give Me Before You a try.

On the Upper East Side, Blair Waldorf is an icon. She's what every girl aspires to be. She's beautiful, confident, and can handle any obstacle that life throws at her. Sure, she may just be a television character. But for me, she's a role model and theres a lot that can be learned from Queen B.

We Heart It

Over the past decade, television has undergone a very crucial transition: the incorporation of female lead characters. Since it's a known fact that girls actually do run the world (Beyonce said so herself), it's time for the leading ladies of the small screen to get some credit. Without these characters, women would still be sitting in the background of our favorite shows. These women are not only trailblazers for female empowerment, but role models for women worldwide. With that, here are 15 of the smartest, sassiest ladies gracing our screens that remind us that women do, indeed, rule:
