As an avid Netflix binge watcher, I've fallen in love with many different series and get crushed when they all came to an end, especially the ones that were left unfinished. One of them was 'Gilmore Girls.' The show that followed a young mom and her daughter throughout their life in a small town. We all got to watch as Rori Gilmore grew up from high school to her college graduation. Netflix decided to revive the series and created 'A Year In The Life' and it was the best news I have gotten since the show ended.
I had high expectations for the series. I thought that all of my questions would be answered when I watched the new series. Who would Rori choose and what happened to Lorelai and Luke? The series made me both laugh and cry. It was emotional and it tugged at your heart strings. If you watched the series from beginning to end like I did, the story of what happened to the mother and daughter duo was told perfectly. Rori wasn't the perfect girl and she was having problems on her own, but she found what she was supposed to do in the end. Lorelai and Luke were meant to be and we didn't get much time to see them grow as the couple in the original series, but thankfully in the year we saw the ups and downs the couple faced. In the end, everything worked out. While the series was fantastic with appearances from even the smallest characters in the show, it still didn't answer the forever question. What happened to Rori? We saw all of her potential forever-afters moved on but in the end, Rori announces that she is pregnant. We never get the closure about who she chooses.
After doing some research online there is no telling whether the author set it up for an addition to the series or if this is truly the end of the 'Gilmore Girls'. We can only hope that we'll get to see what happens next with Rori and if she follows in her mother's footsteps and raises the child on her own or goes and tells Logan that she is having his baby before he gets married. Even then, the series still ended with an open door with Jess. While we may never know what happens to our girl Rori, I am forever thankful that we got to see our favorite characters one more time. The series showed that no matter what winter, spring, summer, or fall all they had to do was call.
