A Review Of Bel Air's Newest: Stone's Cove Kitbar

It’s just a normal day driving though Bel Air: the birds are chirping, soccer moms in mini vans are out running errands, and traffic is backed up all up and down Baltimore Pike. While you’re sitting bumper-to-bumper, your eyes start to wander, and they notice something that you’ve never seen before. You’re probably thinking, “What’s that big wooden tower-like sign in the complex where Chili’s is”. Well, that sign is the home to Bel Air’s newest restaurant, Stone’s Cove Kitbar, and if the sign wasn’t attention-grabbing enough, then the concept and the food will for sure win you over.

So you’re probably thinking, what the heck is a Kitbar? But it’s exactly what it sounds like: a kitchen and a bar combined. As you walk through the revolving door, you are immediately drawn to a kitchen centered in the middle of a large communal table, bringing everyone closer together in a dinner party-like atmosphere. According to Stone’s Cove’s website, the theory behind this concept is to put guests in the center of the action, which makes your visit more interactive and inviting. Of course, there are tables and booths set apart from the bar too, making it the perfect place to celebrate any occasion with a large group of people.

Now the most important part: the food. The very first thing that you’ll notice about the Stone’s Cove’s menus is that they’re on the smaller side, making choices more narrow but great nonetheless. Right smack dab in the middle of the kitchen, you’ll find the giant wood stone oven, making for a comfortable atmosphere (and some really great food). According to their website, the dishes served can be described as “classic American with a contemporary twist”, but more simply put, Stone’s Cove food is unlike any other.

Start off with an Appetapa, a mix between a traditional appetizer and a Spanish classic. You could go with something well-known and common like Hot & Cold Dip, a spinach dip served with a “cool quartet” of toppers and crackers, or something a little different like Lobster Cones. They consist of lobster salad stuffed with guacamole inside of a cone, making it look like a mini ice cream cone! The great and different thing about Stone’s Cove is that you can go out of your comfort zone or stay within without ever changing restaurants. Next step is your entrée, and there are plenty to choose from. From a classic Cobb Salad, to Buffalo Chicken Flatbread, to Shrimp & Grits, there is quite literally something for everybody. Finish off with a S’mores Flatbread or seasonal Drunken Strawberry Sliders to complete your experience.

Another great aspect to Stone’s Cove is that it serves… wait for it… BRUNCH! What other restaurant in Bel Air can you count on to serve you Breakfast Tacos or a Breakfast Burger with a mimosa!? Brunch will be served starting Saturday, July 2nd and will continue every Saturday and Sunday from 11-2. This is one reason why Stone’s Cove fits perfectly into Bel Air. The other reason can be explained by their philanthropy. Every Sunday, 10% of sales go to a locally partnered charity or the do good things Foundation. In addition, 10% of the annual profits benefit the Foundation. Why not dine at a restaurant “where your good times do good things”.

When you walk into Stone’s Cove, you never know what will come out of your dining experience. Between their seasonal menu and comforting atmosphere, you may come home with your new favorite food or even a new friend. So, next time you and your significant other can’t decide where to go to lunch, stop by the big wooden tower-like sign restaurant. I promise you’ll never question where to go out to eat ever again.

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
