Treat others how you would like to be treated. Especially when you’re at work!

Last Friday, a couple of my friends and I went out to this bar, Calico Jack’s. It’s right on 2nd Ave, only two blocks away from 42nd St. Grand Central. The bartender was very rude coming towards the end of the night. I realized she started to ignore my friends and I because our drinks were supposed to be free. Yes, free. They invited me to come to their establishment to enjoy a three-hour free open bar.

So, as a cantina who does promotions such as this one, you would think the staff would be a little bit nicer. Giving her the benefit of the doubt, seeing that maybe she had to tend to the paying customers first, we decided to pay for our shots. Why would you pay for shots when the whole bar is free for three hours? Well, maybe because the “free open bar” was bull crap!

The invitation said the open bar included mixed drinks, beer, margaritas and wine. Well, the mixed drinks were only bottom shelf liquor. No Hennessy and Cokes, no Long Island Iced Teas. Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't those considered mixed drinks? We ordered cranberry and vodkas instead and our last two orders were nothing but pure cranberry juice. Not an ounce of vodka in it. The margaritas also were lacking liquor and was blended ice with no flavor, and I ordered a frozen mango margarita. They didn’t have Blue Moon, so they gave us something similar - although it wasn’t similar.

Oh, and when we got there the bartender said that wine wasn’t included although the invitation said it was. So, not only the did the staff treat us like children who were going to skip out on the bill and were severely unwelcoming, but their open bar was a complete lie! My friends and I went there to drink alcoholic drinks and have fun. We decided to pay for our drinks instead.

Too bad we didn’t get the chance to order anything because the bartender thought we were invisible. Calico Jack’s, you missed out on some big money. You never know who you are serving, so how about you start treating your guests with some respect. At the end of the day, this is our job. You chose this profession, don’t get disrespectful when things get hectic. You lost a customer last Friday. Get your staff in check.

Overall, I would rate the place 3 stars just because of the atmosphere and music. As for the drinks and service? Better luck next time. Oh wait, there won’t be a next time.

College students, you might be able to relate to this one. These probably sound familiar because we often tell ourselves these phrases; however, we are unable to follow or agree with these the following, deep down inside of our overwhelmed, tired minds.

1. "No more spending money on useless things"

Until you walk into a 99 cents store and suddenly have the urge to pick up anything that's less than a dollar.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.
