Ever since I have made the decision to collaborate with Universal Music Group, it has opened the doors to many different avenues of music never before seen, and this is definitely not an exception. On Thursday, September 8th, in the University of Central Florida Student Union, I got the chance to preview Bastille's new album, "Wild World". After listening to the album, it's time to give my review on Bastille and the brand new album. However, before I review the album, you might want to know who Bastille actually is.
Hang on, who is Bastille exactly?
Remember the song, Pompeii? That was Bastille. The song was released in January 2013 and instantly became a smash hit for Bastille, which still to this very day, one of my favorite songs. The EDM remix that's played in every bar around UCF also helps its popularity, but that's beside the point. Will they follow up with this new album? Let's find out.
Review:
Surprisingly, this is the easiest part of the review to write. I am not gonna sugar coat, it's exactly what you expect from Bastille. Their sound hasn't really changed from the last album, and once you start listening to Wild World, you're gonna have a pretty good idea that it's the working of Bastille. Pretty much it's the same kind of songs in a different album cover, which makes it awesome because Bastille has a unique identity to them, and they should stick to it. I am surprised it took them this long to release a second album, but in my opinion it's perfect timing for the young band. Their careers are very young and I think it's important to get the ground round by getting your music out to as many communication channels as possible, and they are doing a good job at that thanks to the Universal Music Group. Will it be a successful enough hit to break The American Top 40 is another story within itself, but honestly it's too soon to tell. Remember, Bastille's sound is nothing like anything else you will hear anywhere, and either you will really like their sound, or you want to listen to something else entirely.
The Takeaway?
So do I actually like Bastille's new album? The answer to this is, yes, 100%, it is a very good sounding album. It's very Bastille-like, and they should continue this kind of sound in the future because this will attract more fans to the band. They are doing a fantastic job considering their young careers and I believe that their success will go far. So what's next for this band? That's yet to be seen, but I am hoping that they continue this good trend of music they have, and hopefully will be continuing to produce.
