Finals are over, projects have been turned in and it is time to return to our hometowns: to our parents' homes, our families, and our favorite hometown restaurants. Besides all that, waiting for us back home is our hometown friends. They are the friends that you've know since you were in elementary school and the friends that you've remained close with despite being away at separate colleges. Being reunited with your hometown friends is exciting, emotional and bound to be a good time. You and your friends are trying to make up for lost time and squeeze it all into a few weeks. Every time you reunite with your hometown "squad" there are always a few things bound to happen.

1. The Reunion

Reuniting with your friends once you all finally make it home is exciting to say the least. Things feel like old time and like you never even left as you hug, laugh, make jokes about each other.

2. Playing Catch-up

There is so much to catch your friends up on. All the things you didn't tell them in the group text and all the things you've been waiting to tell them in person. The little details about your life that you haven't been able to tell them and thing just how great it is to be home.

3. Reminiscing

Throughout the time you spend with your hometown friends, old stories are bound to come up. Laughing about all the dumb and embarrassing things you guys did in high school, gossiping about what all your old classmates are up to, and remembering all the good times you guys had when you were still in high school with minimum responsibilities.

4. Their Family is Your Family

Not only are you meeting up with your friends, but you get to see their families. Your friends families have now become your family and you've missed them just as much as you've missed your friends.

5. Endless Pictures

The pictures never stop when you and your friends finally reunite. The ugly close up snapchats with heart eye emojis as the caption, and the endless posts to let everyone know that you're home and reunited with your favorite people.

6. CELEBRATION!

A celebration night (or two) is bound to happen. If you and your friends are over 21 you're most likely to hit up the bars in your hometown that you were never able to get into before. It's weird walking in for the first time because the last time you were home with your friends you were still looking for a house party to go to. None the less you're all excited to celebrate your friend reunion.

7. Heart to heart conversations

After all the fun and laughing a heart to heart conversation is bound to come up. It could be about life in general, a potential love interest, an ex love interest, or how terrified or excited you all are for the future. Some one might cry and you'll all probably freak out because you all have no idea what you're doing with your life. It's okay, though, because everyone will be handing out advice and after the heart to heart with your "squad" you feel a little better knowing that they got you.

8. Making plans to meet up again

Every time you meet up you spend some of your time trying to figure out the next time you'll all be reunited, this can honestly be pretty difficult because everyone is so busy, but you guys always find a way.

9. Visiting old hang outs

Whether it be Taco Bell runs at 2 a.m. like old times, an old house you used to party at in high school, or your old high school for a basketball game it's always good to go back to where it all started.

10. The worst

Saying goodbye is the worst part about reuniting with some of your favorite people. You hug them tight because you know it could be a while before you all reunite, but for now face time calls and group messages will have to do until the next time you and your friends are reunited to do it all over again.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
