After enjoying the last week of Spring Break, it is now time to head back to school. As you pack your bags and make the return trip to school, you are flooded with opposing thoughts and feelings. Part of you is sad to leave the comfort of home, friends, and family. Another part of you is excited to get back to your friends at school because you do not know how you have survived the last week without them. While you have enjoyed lounging around, sleeping in, and dismissing all of your responsibilities for a short time, you now long to get back on a schedule and complete the piles of work that await your return. The fun memories that you have of Spring Break are just a taste of what the upcoming summer will be like. The thought of summer being only a mere two months away is what motivates you to get back to the grind and give it your all. Here are 14 times that the cast of Friends exemplified the reactions of students returning back to school as classes resume after Spring Break.

1. Looking at your calendar and realizing how many quizzes, exams, papers, projects, and finals are still between you and summertime

2. Catching up on all the reading that you had planned on doing over an entire week of break, but for some reason you saved for Sunday night

3. Seeing your college best friend again after going an entire week without them

4. When adults tell you not to complain about going back to school after Spring Break because someday you won't have a Spring Break anymore

5. Sitting in your first class on Monday morning

6. When you survive all of your responsibilities on Monday

7. Coming back from Spring Break, but it's still freezing outside

8. When the professor announces that there is a pop quiz over the assignment you were supposed to read over break

9. Walking into your foreign language class after a week off

10. Everybody wanting to make plans with you right after everyone returns to school

11. Thinking about all of the time that you wasted over break

12. When you realize that there are less than 50 class days left until summer

13. Imagining all of your summer plans

14. Deciding to buckle down and get back to the grind because every assignment you finish is one step closer to sweet summertime

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead.
