Whether you’re lactose intolerant, have a dairy allergy, or just want to eat fewer dairy products--- ditching dairy doesn’t have to be stressful or difficult. Not being able to eat a certain food or food group can be very isolating and even embarrassing when you’re out with friends or at a restaurant (especially in college when you’re missing out on mom cooking for you!) It’s frustrating when you can’t find anything that you can eat, but I’m here for you and know this struggle all too well!!! I’ve been without dairy for numerous years now and have learned how and where it can be really hassle-free. Here are a few popular restaurants that offer STELLAR df options! #DAIRYFREEdom

MY FAVORITE DAIRY-FREE RESTAURANTS ITEMS:

1. Zoe’s Kitchen:

Zoe’s is a longtime favorite of mine and SUCH an easy place to get yummy, fresh food.
-Classic Hummus

-Chicken & Orzo Soup

-Mediterranean Lentil Soup

-Greek Salad & Live Med Salad WITHOUT FETA

-Chicken Salad & Fruit Plate

-Chicken Salad Sandwich

-ALL THE KABOBS!

-Sides: Potato Salad, Rice, Roasted Vegetables

-Mediterranean Chicken Entree

-Any of the Bowls MINUS feta and tzatziki

2. Mellow Mushroom:

MM has the BEST dairy free pizza!!! They use a brand called Follow Your Heart cheese and it is pretty close to the real thing. Just ask for the regular crust with no butter or parmesan cheese on top, and order the dairy-free cheese option! THE BEST.

The hummus appetizer and pretzel bites are also dairy free, and you can make your own salad too!

3. Taco Bell:

This one is TOO EASY. If you ask for ANYTHING that usually has cheese or sour cream “Fresco Style,” they don’t add the cheese or SC to it, and instead, add PICO DE GALLO! (for example Fresco Bean Burrito, Fresco Crunchwrap, etc.) Oh… and the cinnamon twists are dairy free too!

4. Chick-fil-A:

Unfortunately (this is a sad one), the fried chicken is put in a milk wash before they fry it. However, all of the GRILLED chicken and the heavenly waffle FRIES are df! You can also get the egg white grill breakfast sandwich without cheese and you are good to go on the hashbrowns as well! #HealthIsWealth

5. Chipotle:

GREAT NEWS! Everything at Chipotle, minus our obvious offenders, cheese/sour cream/queso, is dairy free!

6. Newk’s Eatery:

I’ve been recently obsessed with Newk’s because of these sandwiches! There are more options than just these, but these are what I’ve had and enjoyed!

-Turkey breast sandwich or turkey avocado sandwich with NO Swiss cheese

-Greek salad with chicken, NO feta (greek dressing is DF)

7. Dunkin Donuts:

If you’re dairy free, you may know that the dairy-free options at Starbucks are not the best. The coconut milk is mehhh, soy milk is iffy, and the almond milk is just gross (IMO). BUT, Dunkin’ Donuts serves my FAVORITE brand of dairy-free milk, Almond Breeze. I’m in LOVE with an iced coffee with almond milk from DD!

(not necessarily food related but wanted to share ;) )

I hope this was helpful! Did I miss anything that you LOVE?!?

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
