5 Restaurants In NYC That Are More Memorable Than Times Square

As someone who has been to the city many times (often just for the food) I think I've gathered a good list of my top favorites.

Food

I love New York City and all the great food, places, and experiences it has to offer. I find myself just going to the city to try new foods and cuisines because I like to try different things all the time. I love seeing the different and creative twists chefs take on food. Here are some of my restaurant favorites.

1. Beyond Sushi

This vegan restaurant has such a creative take on sushi. If you love sushi but aren't a fan of meat or are vegan, try Beyond Sushi. The insanely cool twists they put on classic sushi will have you wanting more and more. Plus, it's very affordable.

2. Danji

If you've never tried Korean food or you're super into Korean food, this is the place to go. It's an upscale Korean restaurant that has your favorites and the classics (bibimbap and kimchi) and also some other entrees and appetizers with unique ingredients and twists. The plating of the food is beautiful, and the atmosphere is fresh and modern.

3. Spot Dessert Bar

This isn't exactly a restaurant, it's a dessert bar. I love dessert, and this place has some amazingly delicious desserts. I recommend the matcha lava cake, and the bubble tea served in a light bulb.

4. Ajisen

Another food I love is ramen, and as a vegetarian, sometimes it's hard to find a good vegetarian ramen. Ajisen has delicious, good, homey vegetarian ramen that warms you right up. The bubble teas are also amazing.

5. Bibble & Sip

Another dessert bar; what can I say, I love desserts! Bibble & Sip has great teas and caffeinated beverages as well as adorably cute macarons, delicious puffs, and scrumptious panna cottas in quaint jars.

Well, there you go, five places to try the next time you're in the city. Honestly, this list will keep updating and increasing as I go more often and try all the different foods and restaurants NYC has to offer.

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.

Here are five things everyone should learn in order to be a better friend to themselves. These steps are hard, but they're so worth it.
