Puppies and kittens are the most adorable creatures that you just want to take home with you but I've learned that they are way more responsibility than I imagined. As cute as they as, they grow up and when they aren't puppies and kittens anymore they become crazy.
As much as I love my pup, Ziggy he requires a huge chunk of my time while also needing lots of TLC. Having a pet in college is way more than just having the animal there when its convenient, its setting aside time for loving and taking proper care of that animal. College alone brings a ton of responsibilities so adding a pet into the mix can makes things even more crazy.
Between having to potty train them and make sure they don't destroy everything in the house, they need a lot of time. Sometimes having to turn plans down because the dog needs to go out or be walked. I've learned that that is just one of the sacrifices you have to make when taking on a pet. I've even had to give up half my bed to my ten pound pup.
The best bet is to do some research and make sure having a pet in college is a responsibility you're willing to take. Nothing is worse than seeing pets with owners that don't take proper care of them or clean up after their messes.
