The Art Of Being A Good Person: Respecting Everyone's Opinions

In This Article:

Opinions, everyone has them and they are usually different. This is one of the beautiful things about the world, everyone is allowed to form their own personal opinion and we don`t always have to agree with them. It is so common today to see people in these huge fights because they don`t agree with another person's opinions, and sometimes you just have to listen and RESPECTIVELY disagree.

More often than not these divisive opinions are politically related, in 2018 opinions are more mainstream than ever thanks to the growth of social media. You can share how you feel with the entire world in under a minute, it doesn`t always mean you should, but its so easy that people often find it hard not too. It never fails that when I am scrolling through my facebook feed, someone shares an article related to their political opinion and it ignites an all-out war in the comments. Sometimes you have to see what they shared, agree to disagree, and keep scrolling. What do you gain from bashing someone and their personal opinions on the internet? It isn`t just everyday people that have these problems, it can be celebrities and elected officials too. Now, every award show on T.V. is based around a political opinion. In Fact, the 2018 Country Music Awards were bashed because they did not base their entire awards show around politics, and I guarantee this made the experience so much more enjoyable for the audience.

Sometimes these opinions run so deep that they tear apart friendships and even families. I have seen people stop being friends because they sided with different political parties. Yeah, you read that right. Adults stop being friends because they disagree with which political party should be in charge, this is absolutely crazy to me. One of best friends and I have completely different opinions on nearly every political topic, has this every interfered with our friendship, no. How do we keep our friendship so strong even though we have different viewpoints? We don`t base our opinion of the person by what they share on social media, and we don`t discuss topics that might make us argue. This isn`t some " contract " we made for our friendship, but rather we both act how all adults should and respect each other.

Please, I am literally begging everyone to learn to respectively disagree with others opinions. Everyone uses these divisive topics to talk about the better world they`re creating for " the children." Imagine how great the world would be, for kids and adults alike, if everyone felt like they could speak about how they feel without being judged. Let`s make changing this a goal along with climate change and all the other topics we feel strongly about.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
