The phrase is supposed to be "New Year. New Me."
How many times have you heard that phrase in the past week? Too many times. The new year shouldn't be the cause of the motivation for changing yourself. You should work toward a better you every single day of your life.
I've managed to create my own resolution; not only for the new year, but for the rest of my life.
A resolution is defined as a promise to yourself that you will make a serious effort to do something that you should do.
The word "resolution" itself is made up of a prefix and a word. Re-Solution. The prefix: re- means again, or again and again. Solution is an answer to a problem. So the resolutions we make are just solutions again and again. If we have to make solutions over and over again then are we really making the right resolutions at the start of each year?
Pursuing Jesus is more important than chasing a relationship.
I want to be in constant pursuit of Christ's love throughout this year and for the rest of my life. Don't get me wrong, being in a relationship is absolutely great, but being in a relationship with Christ is infinitely better.
I've been at Liberty now for three semesters and though it is such a Christ-centered university, that doesn't discount me from continuing to grow in Christ for myself.
I go into this new year with a new verse.
I will show love to those I called "not loved." And to those I called "Not my people," I will say, "Now you are my people." And they will reply, "You are our God."
Hosea 2:23
God has far better plans for me than the ones I make for myself. I've learned that throughout my life and today it means more to me than ever. I can never know the plans He has for me because I know He isn't just going to tell me. God doesn't work that way. I have to pursue Him to know His plans for my life. That is where I make my decision for my resolution. Starting the year with this in mind, my resolution is a lifelong commitment.
