Resolutions can be repetitive and disappointing. Each year we promise ourselves that we will commit to a new or for some an old resolution that we know is a promise we can't keep. This year make it a goal to commit to a resolution you will actually want to keep. Here are six promises you will enjoying making for the new year.
1. Branch out
Don't always stick to your usual friend group. Branch out a little and get to know people you normally wouldn't. Whether it's working in a different group for a school project or talking to the person you always ride next to on the subway on your way to work. You never know, friendships can be formed in the most random ways, which can sometimes be the most meaningful.
2. Plan a trip
Explore! Visit somewhere new and make unforgettable memories. It doesn't have to be a trip half way across the world. It can be a new town or city in your state that you haven't had the chance to explore.
3. Stop comparing yourself to others
Life gets a little bit easier when we stop making it a competition. We have to remind ourselves that everyone is different and no matter how much we try to change ourselves you will never be that person you envy so much. It's time to embrace and except who you are, because that is always enough!
4. To make more time for people.
Life gets in the way, it always does. We inevitably lose touch with old friends, family members and even our most recent friendships. You could be successful in all other aspects of your life but it's always better to share that success and happiness with people, so make time for them!
5. Don't just hear but listen
Information is being thrown at us daily. It's important to not just hear it all but to really listen. Listen to someone's story, stranger or friend. The more you listen the more knowledge you have about the world and people around you.
6. Don't say no because you are afraid of saying yes
If you want change and new and exciting things to happen in your life then you have to do something differently. Don't hold yourself back because of the "what ifs." Saying yes to something can be the change and adventure you needed all along.
