This is my last semester of college and I want it to be a good one. Not that the other semesters weren't good; I just think they could've been better (that must be the perfectionist in me speaking). Therefore, I've made five resolutions for this year.
Perhaps these are some of your own resolutions, as well:
1. Keep up with the reading.
I usually do keep up with the reading, even if that means reading right before class, and by that I mean scarfing down the last paragraph as the professor calls roll. In those instances I’m attempting to absorb a lot of information and not reading to understand, like I should. I don’t have time to look up words, ask questions, or even enjoy the text when I read in a hurry. What kind of way to live is that? I mean, it’s not like I don’t have time to do a proper reading. The time is there, it’s just been sucked up by daydreaming and worrying (which are two little imps in my brain that get jealous whenever I try to have a date-night with a book).
2. Spend money wisely.
I know I can do this: All I have to do is not buy those packs of gum sitting next to the check-out counter. I don’t have to use dryer sheets when I do laundry, nor do I require a cup of coffee when I walk into a 7-Eleven. Every frivolous expense is like a tiny termite, slowly eating away at my bank account. Together they form an army that is going to destroy me, financially. And now I’m not sure whether I need an accountant or an exterminator…
3. Eat more fruits and veggies.
I have access to a large assortment of fruits and vegetables in my school cafeteria, and I should take advantage of that while I still have it. It wouldn’t hurt me to eat an apple with my breakfast or grab a banana at lunch. Let’s see if this resolution comes to fruition (haha).
4. Go to a job fair.
This is something I’ve neglected to do for a long time. I’ve known about them. I’ve gotten the emails, I’ve seen the fliers, but I just never thought to myself Hey, I should go to that. Well, yes, yes I should.
5. Fix my resume.
I don’t know what’s going on with my resume; it’s been in a closet collecting dust. You’re probably thinking This girl doesn’t want a job. She hasn’t touched her resume or been to a job fair. But I DO want a job. The government wants me to have a job. That’s why I have made this a resolution.
And one last informal resolution (although it might be the most important one of all): Don’t worry! That’s a hard one, I know, but if I can do that my goals are going to be a lot easier to accomplish.
