New Year's Resolutions Are Never Stupid, And You Should Never Let Anyone Tell You Otherwise

Ahh, the new year. It is a very exciting time for most, and for many, it comes with a few to-dos for the year to better them as a person. A lot of people come out of the woodwork online and complain about resolutions, saying how they are dumb and if you want to better yourself you should just do it instead of using the new year as motivation. I'm here to tell you that's bullshit. You should use whatever you want as motivation to better yourself. Make a list of what you want to do this year, make it your goal. Complete as many things as you possibly can.

New year, new you, same you, an upgraded version of you, whatever you want to be! Making new years resolutions is a way to refresh yourself and push yourself to move forward with your own personal growth. If you need it to be a new year for you to up your game, let it be!

If you can motivate yourself in March or October or any other time to just change who you are then great for you! But telling others that the way they choose to better who they are and learn to love themselves more is wrong, isn't okay. Maybe YOUR new year's resolution should be to be less of an asshole and support your friends, family, or even strangers to work on who they are however and whenever they see fit.

So what if someone else wants to lose weight, get more organized, or find their soul mate? Whatever it is they want to do, and whenever they want to do it, let them be. It's 2019 people, it's past time we start letting everyone be themselves without question, comment or concern from anyone else.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
