I recently took a trip with my family to a place I had been many times before. Upon telling people where I was going, a couple of them would say something like "You were just there — why go again?" I do see their point, but I also disagree. I think that to give a destination a second trip (or even multiple trips) is not only wise but also just as exciting. Doing so brings out a new sense of adventure.
One solid reason to revisit an old location is to see all the cool activities you missed. No matter how long you spend in one place, there is always more to be discovered. There are more restaurants to try, more shops to browse, more hidden treasures to find, more locals to meet — there's always something else. That's the best part of travel; to keep learning about the many, many wonders away from home — and that may take another visit.
Another perk of repeating a trip is making a new memory there. Maybe the first time you visited California, for example, was after you graduated high school. You go back four years later and you can see how drastically your life has changed. Despite the same geographical space, you are likely a very different person who has accomplished much more in that amount of time. This is a cool way to measure changes in your life that you may not have recognized before.
So maybe this summer you and your friends just can't think of a state to visit or a beach to lay on. Don't sweat it — just book the same vacation where you had the most fun, the hardest laughs, and all the magical moments. That way you're guaranteed a good time.
Happy traveling, no matter if it's somewhere new or somewhere familiar!
