Why Reorganizing Can Clear Your Head

It was the summer of 2018 and I had just finished my first year at college. I live at home, so naturally I still live in my childhood bedroom. At the time, I hated doing my homework in my room or cleaning my room but I always thought it was because I wanted to relax. However, I came to understand that the space itself was preventing me from truly enjoying my home.

Reorganizing my room allowed for more space, a clearer head, and somewhere I actually look forward to go to. Clutter tends to accumulate wherever you go, it is a fact of life. An item that holds a memory or birthday cards, or old phone chargers and unused headphones. We don't use these but we still keep and have them because it is familiar.

I tried using the Marie Kondo cleaning method but it was very difficult to part with those items I loved but didn't need. It took me a while to actually start the process and get in the right head-space but I eventually got it done. Allowing yourself to let go of these items will help you enjoy your space and see it in a way you haven't before.

You are able to decorate or even relive those little memories again. With technology it is so easy to take a picture of those items and save it to a picture album that you can then show off. De-cluttering can happen at any time; don't talk yourself into doing it when you move homes or when you have people over. Try to do it in little bits, don't overwork yourself because it so easy to get distracted from your goal.

Being able to see your home in a cleaner, more welcoming environment can get you motivated to do those things you have been wanting to do. You cleared a space in your living room and you want to be more active? Get a yoga mat and your space can easily be a work out area. Get rid of that piece of furniture that was taking up so much room by your window? Create bookshelf bench seat and have it become a relaxation area.

Taking the time to turn your home into an area that can be relaxing and give off good vibes will not only you, but your friends and family excited to be at your place. I am a big advocate for good vibes and having a nice chill spot, so when I reorganized my room and made it into something I was excited to live in, it made me see my life in a different view.

I am able to breathe clearly and relax in my personal area, maybe you can do the same! Take the time to reorganize your area and you might find more about yourself and the home you live in.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
