Removing Negative People Makes Life Positive

Negative people will convince you that they are positive. They disguise themselves in beautiful masks to cover up the ugliness that they truly are. They will isolate you from everyone else in your life to make it seem like they are the only one there for you and that you need them.

But that is all wrong.

They turn you against the world to make the other planets look more beautiful.

You can't survive on other planets.

That's the thing about negative people. They know how to manipulate people. They will get angry when you disagree with them and then threaten to commit suicide because they know that you could never risk losing them. They have a way to win every argument you will have. Negative people will make you feel as tiny as possible, but still whole because you still have them. They will attach to you like a leech and slowly drain you of energy, time and happiness.

Negative people will close walls around you and yell at you for complaining about not being able to see out the window. Behind the beautiful homes they build for you in their hearts, you will not realize that the doors look exactly the same as a prison cell. They will grow gardens in your body, and although the roses in your lungs are beautiful, the thorns are tearing holes in you and you cannot breathe. You are not just their prisoner, but you will become the prisoner of your own mind.

They raise themselves higher than the rest of us by having other people as the ruins underneath their feet to stand upon.

But you are not rubble. You are beautiful architecture that has just been buried underneath the surface. In time, you will be rediscovered by someone and the world will rejoice and be glad you are above the surface. Your lungs will be cleansed of all the dirt that you were breathing in.

You will be cherished for your beauty and importance in this world. People will want to learn more about you and be close to you. The places that you thought were just empty hallways, are elegant ballrooms for positive memories and people to dance.

Sunsets will be more beautiful sitting on a the side of a hill with your best friends than from the small hole you dug yourself in the cement walls that used to contain you.

The sweet words that were whispered to you in the dark will leave a bitter taste in your mouth when you begin to realize that they had been told as a lie.

The shackles have been removed. The weight on your shoulders has been lifted off of you. You are free from captivity. The holes that were torn inside you have been filled in.

Take a deep breath in. The air is pure. Your world is no longer toxic.

You will be okay.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
