7 Reason Why 'The Amanda Show' Was The Best

Now that 2017 is upon us, I have found myself reminiscing certain parts of my childhood that I loved so much. The thought that the year 2020 is almost here kind of weirds me out. I mean, where is my flying car?! Anyways, here's a list of reasons the Amanda show was the best. Here's to the show that made my nostrils flare and my sides hurt from all the laughter.

1. The Theme Song

You KNOW as soon as you heard "Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, Amanda, show!" that you were gonna be treated to some of the best comedy that existed on Nickelodeon. I mean, can we just reminisce about Nickelodeon in itself?! They had the best shows.

2. Moody's Point

Ahh... the best teenage drama to watch during the early 2000's. I remember having so much anxiety because they always left you with unanswered questions. For example, did Moody ever reunite with her mother after the hot air balloon accident? Did she ever end up with that guy? And did she find her father's toe? These are all serious questions.

3. Judge Trudy

It was so perfect. Everyone knew about the legendary and sassy Judge Judy, but we also knew about her doppelgänger, Judge Trudy. Amanda was always good at portraying people, and she nailed Judy. Don't lie! You always wanted to say, "Court dismissed! Bring in the dancing lobsters!"

4. "Amanda, please!"

Penelope Taynt. She was Amanda's number one fan, and she was so crazy. And every time she said "www.amandaplease.com", I ALWAYS would check the website out, which was up and running for a few years even after the show was cancelled. It was awesome.

5. Totally Kyle

Kyle told the best stories. He was so deep, and he was definitely one of my favorite sketches.

6. The Girls' Room

I could go on and on about all the jokes that went on in this sketch. If you watched the show, then you will definitely understand this:

Amber was popular.

Tammy was from Tennessee.

Sheila didn't like you.

Debbie liked eggs.

7. Blockblister

Oh, my gosh. I miss blockbuster so much. I mean, don't get me wrong--I love Netflix. But there was just something about going to the movie store and renting movies. It was the best! But you know what was much better? Blockblister.

Thanks for giving us some of the best shows ever Nickelodeon! I'll close with one of the catchiest phrases ever... "Nick, nick, nick, nick, nick, nick, nick, Nickelodeon!"

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
