Wow!! This year is flying by.
Valentine's Day is right around the corner and I feel as if I was just celebrating the turn of the New Year with all my closest friends last night. With the what you could potentially call a "controversial" holiday taking over, different feelings about the lovey dovey day seem to be arising.
Whether you hate or love Valentine's Day, there needs to be a few reminders on the day of "love."
1.) Don't forget that you deserve love and more importantly, you deserve respect every. single. day. that you are breathing.
2.) This day isn't just a day to show your girlfriend or boyfriend how much they mean to you; make sure you give your parents, siblings, and grandparents a call too.
3.) You don't need to break the bank for presents or candy. Seriously. It's all about the little things and just a simple handwritten card will create a large grin!
4.) If your S/O is upset for you "not doing more" or "not spending enough money" reevaluate the relationship. Are you guys focusing on what your love really is? Or are you focused on the idea of what your love needs to be?
5.) Please, please, PLEASE know that is totally, completely, and wonderfully fine to be alone on Valentine's Day. You are loved by so many every day, you don't need to celebrate a basically random day of love if you don't want to/can't/think it's dumb.
6.) Don't ask for present's or gifts from your friends, parents, or your S/O. Love isn't about possessions.
7.) Remember to laugh today--whether that comes easy to you or not. (This goes for every other day as well!)
8.) Love isn't about who've known the longest. Try striking up a conversation with a complete stranger, they may have better intentions than someone you've known since you were 15.
9.) God loves you now and forever.
10.) HAVE FUN. Today, is just like any other day and it's a day you will never get back again so enjoy the moment and try to do something you wouldn't normally do.
