Dear Future Self,

How is it going? I hope your life is finally together and if not then it's OK because right now your life is a hot mess. I'm writing to you to make sure you remember who you used to be and to follow some things that you used to believe in. So here we go.

1. Family will always be there for you.

No matter what you do, where you go or how long you've been gone you can count on your family sticking to your side. Remember home is just a phone call away.

2. You learned from your past mistakes so don't regret them completely.

The truth is we all have mistakes, but if we didn't have them how would we know to not make them anymore? If they didn't happen in the past, then it would eventually happen in the future.

3. Some friends were meant to leave your life.

That friend you made in middle school that you thought was going to be your best friend forever may turn out to not be. Sometimes we learn from our friends to the greatest extent we can and then we learn to live without them.

4. It's not about the money you make, it's about being happy.

We could have all the money in the world, but what would we do with it if it didn't make us feel happy? Would you rather be alone and rich or have a normal amount of money and be happy?

5. Don't wish to relive your past, but make the most out of the future.

We all peak, for some of us it's in high school and for some of us it's later in life. Don't wish to go back to then, make those moments again with new friends and with your improved life.

6. Just because you haven't found the right person yet doesn't mean you never will.

You can date all the people you want, but when you find the right person you will know and you'll be happy you waited.

7. Cook, don't eat out every night.

Listen, I know those late night McDonalds runs are amazing, but you will save so much money and be so much healthier if you cook for yourself. This way you will know what you're eating.

8. Drop the relationship that isn't making you happy.

Another one that will make you happy will come along, I promise. But if you aren't happy with this person, then why stay with them?

9. Everything will work out fine.

How many times have you thought this was the end? A billion right and look where you are today. You are doing great and if something bad is happening, then don't worry you'll get through it again.

10. Always love yourself the way I love you.

You are such an awesome person, so of course I love you and no matter what you did I will forgive you. I mean we are the same person so how could I not?

Anyways, if you follow all of these and remember them, then your life is in pretty good shape. Until next time.

Love,

Your Past Self

The first two weeks of classes have come to an end and they have been anything BUT easy. It seems like life has been serving up more bad than good and in all honesty, the only thing you want to do is crawl under your covers and hide from the rest of the world.

Although this seems like the best solution, it is also the easy way out. Take it from the girl who took basically a whole week off from her life because she just could not handle everything that was being thrown at her. This caused her to feel extremely lonely and even more stressed out for being behind in classes that JUST began.

11 Things We Learned From Brooke Davis

"What's more important? What we become or how we become it?"

Brooke Davis

"She was fiercely independent, Brooke Davis. Brilliant, and beautiful, and brave. In two years she had grown more than anyone I had ever known. Brooke Davis is going to change the world someday, and I'm not sure she even knows it." - Lucas Scott, An Unkindness of Ravens

Brooke Davis of the hit show One Tree Hill was the it girl - she had it all, or so we thought. She started out as a stuck-up, shallow, spoiled, head cheerleader who didn't have her life together. She slept around a lot and loved to party - sounds like your typical high school teenager right? Wrong. B. Davis had so much more to offer. Caring, loyal, and outspoken, she has taught us some valuable lessons throughout the 9 seasons that OTH was on the air:

For some of us, coming to college was the first time we ever had to share a room. It was a big change, but a fun one. As you meet more and more people over the course of your college career, it seems to be a pattern that you will at some point have that one friend that doesn't live with you, but acts like they do. We all have a person, and when that person makes some new friends, we tend to forget all the great things that can come out of it. Never forget how special they are to you and why you are best friends.
