Donald Trump is definitely a hot topic of discussion for the Republican presidential nomination. Trump is very forward with his opinions and views on how America should be run. However, Trump has a very unexpected ally that could end up on his administration if he were to win the presidency.
Sarah Palin, the crazy governor from Alaska who pushed anti-abstinence education while her teen daughter was pregnant, and Donald Trump are probably the most unlikely people to be political allies. And yet, here we are.
In the 2008 election, Palin was known for her interesting quotes during the presidential campaign.
In a CBS article, when questioned by CBS anchor Katie Couric about newspapers Palin reads, she responded with: "all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years."
Another famous quote about Palin was actually from Tina Fey. The former Saturday Night Live comedian performed a skit with Amy Poehler, who was dressed as Hillary Clinton, where she said "I can see Russia from my house." The quote was intended to make fun of Palin's lack of credentials in regard to foreign policy.
For the 2016 election, Donald Trump said in a Huffington Post article that he would love to see Palin working on his administration if he is elected president.
In the article, Trump said, "I'd love that because she really is somebody that knows what's happening and she's a special person."
Let's bring this back for a minute. In 2008, Palin could not even name any of the newspapers she reads. For Trump to say she knows what is going on...well, that scares me a little.
In a CNN Article, Palin said that she would love to be the secretary for the Department of Energy under the Trump administration.
For those of you who do not know, the Department of Energy is responsible for the country's nuclear energy program and for issues regarding energy conservation.
In this CNN article, Palin said:
I'd get rid of [the Energy Department]. And I'd let the states start having more control over the lands that are within their boundaries and the people who are affected by the developments within their states. If I were in charge of that, it would be a short-term job, but it would be ... really great to have someone who knows energy and is pro-responsible development to be in charge.
Palin shares some good ideas in this quote from CNN. It sounds like a great plan. However, the ideas that Palin stated is what the Department of the Interior handles, not the Department of Energy. The Queen of Fantastic Quotes from the 2008 presidential election would like to be secretary of the department that controls our nuclear energy program, but does not necessarily even understand what it does.
And Donald Trump would love to see Palin on his administration?
In addition to Trump's comments dealing with immigration, having Sarah Palin on his administration would absolutely drop his popularity in the country.
