Where to even begin...
For one thing, the theme song is dope:

Most of the characters are weird, but in the best way possible.

But let's be real, they all had some pretty sick moves.
And Penny's friend, Dijonay, had some of THE BEST lines:
And Penny's dad (Oscar) was always silly, over-protective, ridiculous, and well-meaning.
And this show, unlike most mainstream TV, would call attention to the black experience in the United States...
And Penny learned about Black History in a, shall we say, immersive way. (Season 1, Episode 15 - definitely worth a re-watch).
And finally:
I don't know about you, but she was — and continues to be — my hero.
The show was created by Bruce W. Smith, a black animator (who was also involved with Disney's The Princess and the Frog).
It ran for 4 years (2001-2005), ending in a movie that served as the series finale.
The Proud Family will forever have a place in my heart.
