The Importance of Loving Yourself

Life is hard: people can be mean, sometimes you don't win the role, sometimes you don't get the job you wanted, sometimes it rains when you just straightened your hair, somedays just seem safer hiding under the covers. It's okay to have those days, but it is also important to realize that you have the power to turn your day around.

There comes a time when you need to stop letting the white noise of society's opinions overcome your thoughts and take away your peace. You need to allow yourself to see what you are capable of. There is absolutely no one on this Earth who is like you. You are here for a reason and it's time you started accepting how great you are.

Never forget that you are worth it, you are enough, you will be successful, and you will get there. We all need that little nudge to keep us going on our journey; so listen to your favorite song on repeat, dance around your room and sing at the top of your lungs, smile often, love deeply, laugh longer, and most importantly, appreciate yourself. You've been through a lot in life, and its important to remember to thank yourself for being so strong.

Quotes to live by:

“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection."

– Buddha

"If only you could sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”
– Fred Rogers

“To love oneself is the beginning of a life-long romance.”

– Oscar Wilde

“Never bend your head. Always hold it high. Look the world straight in the face.”

– Helen Keller

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
