I Remember The Episode When....

A fangirl details moments that stay in her head through different television shows.

This is a nonfiction piece about what I focus on in television through different moments I remember in different episodes of a few explored shows. Stayed tuned later this week to read the rest!

I remember the episode of "The Walking Dead" when Rick shoots a seven-year-old in the face. Granted, she was a zombie, but there was something about her bathrobe and slippers that made me excited for the rest of the show.

I remember the episode of "Supernatural" when Sam is standing outside of Dean’s house when he escaped Hell in the season 5 finale. They took a beautiful ending and are still squeezing seasons out of it. I really need to catch up to season 11.

I remember the episode of "The 100" when Bellamy walks out of the Drop Ship with a teenage girl both without shirts (she had a sports bra on). At the time, I wasn’t worried about the 23-year-old character sleeping with an underaged teenager. I found the gun tucked into his pants and pointing at a very particular spot too distracting.

I remember that same episode when Clarke asks Bellamy if he has a gun. With a simple flash of abs and that ever so poorly placed gun still capture my attention to this day.

I remember the episode when we get to see almost everything of Bellamy as he was stung up by his ankles at Mount Weather. Even upside down and being drained of blood, he was perfectly flexed.

I remember the episode of "The Walking Dead" when Rick had a shower scene. He had one back in season one, but this one was when he shaved the beard. That was the most striking part of the scene for me.

I remember the episode when Carol told Daryl to take a shower. He never did, and I felt jilted for the second time in the show’s running. The fan favorite and he’s seen as a dirty animal trapped by society and looking for a way out.

I remember the episode of "The Vampire Diaries" when Tyler was just a stock character of the hot asshole of a jock. I remember not really caring if he was killed at any point.

I remember the episode when he became more real when he activated his werewolf curse. He got a much better story arch after that, and he needed to be protected at all costs.

I then remember the episode when he showed up for the first time in two seasons of one or two episode stints only for Damon to kill him for plot convenience. I rant about it still to this day, and the show completed itself a few months ago.

I remember the episode of "Supernatural" when Sam and Dean called each other “jerk” and “bitch” respectively. Though I have four years on my sister, we say it in reverse given our reversed tropes. She could kick my ass, no matter how long I stay in school.

I remember the episode when Dean gets put on The Rack in Hell for saving Sam’s life. He had thick hooks pulling at his skin in a way that made me think of Frank from "Hellraiser." I wonder if that was why Eric Kripke went for that particular effect.

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.
