As some of you may know, this man is the 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama.
Born on August 1, 1961, Barack was born in Hawaii to Ana Dunham and Barack Obama Sr., who separated shortly after, leaving him to be raised by a single mother. Despite challenges, he grew up to become a graduate of both Harvard Law and Colombia University, civil rights attorney, husband of Michelle Robinson (Obama), father of Malia and Sasha Obama, and the first African American President of the United States.
He's had his ups and downs, just like any other president, but he has been a wonderful leader to our country. As we enter into what I call Trump-era America (yikes), please never forget him. He broke an incredible barrier for African Americans, helped LGBTQ people break another, launched the Affordable Care Act, and so much more.
A very dark cloud is settling over America, let this voice of hope and compassion help us through.
