Growing up in Milwaukee had its trademarks for sure. There were just some things everyone did and knew about. So here are 15 things you will probably remember if you grew up around Milwaukee. Kick back with your Kopps custard or cup of Collectivo coffee and scroll through some nostalgia.

1. Molly The Motorcycle Dog

Molly is one of my favorite parts about the summer time! Seeing her in her little pink goggles ride by you meant that you were going to have a fantastic day.

2. This Car

Unexplainably weird how this car seemed to be everywhere all the time.

3. This Is Called A Bubbler

It makes sense to us, okay. It's just called a bubbler.

4. Having To Clean Your Car Off

Brutal Wisconsin winters are fun when you have to work in 10 minutes but can't see out of your car windows.

5. Summerfest

The biggest music festival in the world takes place every summer on our lakefront. It's a super fun and magical time we all love.

6. This Strange Building

Does anybody really know what this building is for? If you know where this is then you know the creepy manikins inside are the actual weirdest thing.

7. Baby Mahal

Milwaukee County Zoo's favorite little guy. We all remember when baby Mahal was first brought to us and the orangutan exhibit was crowded for weeks. And when baby Mahal died, everyone was devastated.

8. The Safe House

The coolest hidden restaurant in Milwaukee! I still have yet to know the secret password so if anyone knows....

9. Incrediroll

Field trips were so lit. The trip here wasn't complete before skating up to the DJ to request your favorite songs. I don't want to know how many times I skated around that rink singing to Sk8er boi.

10. Samson

Milwaukee's very own Harambe.

11. The Secret Rattlesnake

Probably the coolest part of the museum. Going up and impressing everyone with your "knowledge" of where the hidden button is and watching all your friends awe in the little rattle the snakes tail makes was impressive in an eight-year-olds mind.

12. The Wisconsin Dells

We all remember being of jealous of the kids who said they were going to the dells for the weekend in middle school, and if we're being honest, the jealousy didn't stop in high school either because the dells is a fun place.

13. Field Trips To The Jelly Belly Factory

The most fun day of school besides high-interest day! The train ride through the factory followed by shopping their insane flavours in the gift shop made the day complete.

14. The Giant Slide

Whether you are 3 or 103 years old, you always have to go down the giant slide!

15. Cream Puffs

Cream puffs as big as your face.... yes, please. These babies just about sum up the state fair.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
