It has been one hell of a year! Let’s just admit that 2016 was a rough year all around for just about everyone. So, as the New Year approaches us and we start to make our resolution’s list let’s keep our spirits up that 2017 will be better! Here are a few things to keep in mind as the year comes to an end.
1. You are your own source of happiness.
Yes, other people might attempt to ruin it for you but only you have the power to let them. Mind over matter. The people who are trying to rid you of your happiness don’t matter.
2. Every problem has a solution.
Even when everything seems hopeless or like the end of the world remember you made it through the last hurdle; you’ll make it through this one.
3. Take the time to appreciate the little things.
Smile at what makes you happy even if it is just the smell of the air after it rains or the taste of your favorite food.
4. State out loud one thing you like about yourself everyday.
You have a bunch of redeeming qualities. Don’t forget they exist.
5. Meditate!
It’s a hectic world out there, take a few moments to close your eyes, breath in, and breathe out whatever it is that’s bothering you.
6. Forgo the past moments that weigh you down or at least try to.
It’s not easy to forget but it is easy to get stuck. Don’t let past mistakes play like a scratched record in your head.
7. Indulge yourself but remember to keep your priorities.
Partake in your favorites things or something you don’t typically get to do. However, don’t let it distract you from school, work, etc.
8. Forgive people not for them but for your own piece of mind.
Carrying resentment into the next year only hinders your emotions and sense of self.
9. Try not to work in order to live and live just to work.
Paying bills is important but make time for other things. A well balanced life is a happy life.
10. Make a New Year’s resolution list twice as long as this one, so your odds of keeping at least a handful are greater. :)
